Have we ever thought about God transforming us?

Wednesday Bible Blurb Transformers 8 20 2025

My grandsons love to play with their little plastic transformer robots. They can take the little plastic car and with a few swift moves of their hands it becomes a robot. Then, quick as a wink, it is a car again. I have watched in amazement as they switch them back and forth and create mind numbing scenarios of crashes and robots saving the cars. They seem to have a lot of fun transforming the little car into a robot and back.

Have we ever thought about God transforming us? Consider the following: “Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 2:38 [NKJV]). Repent means to change from bad behavior to good behavior. To be baptized is to receive the indwelling of the Holy Spirit within us so we can be transformed into the image of Christ. Har as we try, without the Holy Spirit we cannot be transformed to be like Christ. “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” We are God’s transformers, and He is the one changing us from sin to salvation.

Fortunately, we are not robots and have free will take make up our own minds about God. Moses said to choose life or death, blessing or cursing but he ends with “choose life” (Deut. 30:15-20). We all have a decision to make about our personal transformation into the image of God. Without His Spirit in us as given under the New Covenant, we cannot be transformed.

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Rom. 12:2). We must change (repent of our past ways) and be transformed to be like Him.

“… if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, 23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.” (Eph. 4:21-24). We are to be changed, transformed into the image of God.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” (II Cor. 5:17). We are to be transformed into a new creation and to be like Christ.

Christians undergo a transformation, and this begins a baptism when the Holy Spirit is put into us by God. It is God who leads and directs us to be more like Him-sinless and perfect. Don’t forget to take some time to stop and thank Him for His grace given to us. Transformation means changing one thing into another different thing. It is a type of metamorphosis, conversion, alteration from our past to our present image of God. It means to stop doing what we were doing and to begin to do what God wants us to do.

Jesus put God the Father first in everything He did while on earth. Do we do the same? Do we allow our daily lives to creep up and keep us from attending church? Do we allow our daily lives to interfere with our worshipping God? How committed are we to the wonderful transformation God is giving to us by His grace?

Peter went astray on the night Jesus was captured and murdered. Around three in the morning the rooster crowed and Peter, realizing his sin of forsaking Jesus, God in the flesh, wept bitterly. (Luke 22:34,61-62). 50 days later, on the day of Pentecost he was transformed by the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:1-4). Paul was on the road to Damascus when God began to transform him into the apostle to the gentiles. How quick was Paul’s transformation? After being baptized he, “Immediately [he] preached the Christ in the synagogues, that He is the Son of God.” (vs 20).

Are we willing to be transformed like David the sinner was? “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” (Psalms 51:10). Repent and be baptized for the remission of sins. God has graciously given us His Holy Spirit to change/transform us into His image. How committed are we? Are we willing to put God first in all things?

When my grandsons manipulate the little plastic transformer, they use force to move the parts. God, in His great love does not use force to change us. Instead, He has given us His Holy Spirit and He allows us to choose between life and death, blessing and cursing. Choose life and be transformed.
