God is Faithful

My father was faithful, and he rescued me from certain doom. Let’s consider how faithful our Father God is to us.

Wednesday Bible Blurb God is Faithful 11 18 2025

I was one year old and looking up from the bottom of the pool. I can still see bubbles coming from me as they floated up to the surface. My dad was there, I could see him clearly, but it did not seem to my little one year old mind that he had noticed I had sunk to the bottom of the pool. My first memory in life is of drowning.  I do not remember any fear, just that I could see the bubbles and my dad up above me. I was a one-year-old little boy in deep trouble, and I needed my father to notice. Then, quick as a wink my dad’s hand came down and plucked me off the bottom of the pool. Funny how clearly some of our memories are. My father was faithful, and he rescued me from certain doom. Let’s consider how faithful our Father God is to us.

In our daily lives we all run into bad days, trials and tribulations, bad times, hard times, difficult times. Times when everything seems to go wrong. Times when we begin to lose hope. Times when all seems lost. Throughout all these times there is one constant in the universe, God is faithful. Imagine if God did not reach down into our lives and pull us up out of our trials? Imagine living a Christian life and then coming up at the resurrection (Rev. 20) of judgement and God says, “Oh sorry, it was all a ruse, a joke. You’re going to die.” This would never happen because God is, “not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” (II Pet. 3:9b [NKJV]). Our God is faithful to us. He cannot lie (Heb. 6:18; Titus 1:2). We can cast all our care upon Him knowing with full faith and assurance that He will take care of us.

Our Father in heaven, like any dad allows us to live our lives. Even when we do the wrong thing and mess up our life, He is there ready to help us. All we need to do is ask. “If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.” (II Tim. 2:13). What a wonderful assurance of hope that God is ready to give us a helping hand. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (I John 1:9). In our repentance humility we simply ask God for forgiveness and set out to never sin again. He is faithful. He is forgiving. He is loving and gives us a helping hand.

We have always thought we need to have faith in God, and we do need to have faith in Him.  Have we ever considered He is faithful to us? “But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one. And we have confidence in the Lord concerning you, both that you do and will do the things we command you. Now may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Christ. (II Thes. 3:3-5). We are to have faith in God and God has faith in us. Amazing. It is so wonderful to know He will reach out and pull us out of our daily trials in this life. He is our faithful lifeguard.

“Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.” (Lam. 3:22-23). What a blessing it is to know He has compassion for us, and He is faithful in guarding us. Paul sheds light and hope for us, “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” (I Cor. 10:13). God is faithful and will never allow us to be tempted beyond what He thinks we can take. This is a scary verse as we do not know how much in the way of trials we can handle. But God is faithful in that He will never allow us to be tempted beyond our abilities, and He will always give us a way of escape. He gives us a helping hand over and over again.

How wonderful it is to know God is faithful to us, He cannot lie and He is the same forever (Heb. 13:8). When we are drowning in our sinful lives and in need of help. Look up through the bubbles of life and see our Father in heaven is always there to give us a helping hand.

Note: I later grew into a swimmer and swam competitively in High School and college. We never know what will become of our lives when God gives us a helping hand.
