Wednesday Bible Blurb Our Self-Evident God 5 15 2024

It was a tense and emotional moment. Soldiers were in the city; a dangerous religious fervor was running high and the small group had to be secretive for their own protection. Their leader had been brutally and systematically murdered and they felt lost. Then a miracle happened, all but one in the group saw their leader alive and well. When they told the other member of the group he blurted out in total disbelief, “Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.” (John 20:25 [NKJV]). Do we need to see God to believe in Him?

The atheist believes creation came from nothing. No explanation of a beginning as if all matter has eternally existed. The same atheist scientist will confirm matter did have a beginning. It is an oxymoron he cannot explain in any rational sense. The atheist has more faith in nothing creating everything than the average person has in the existence of God. God made His existence self-evident in creation and left us a record so we can all see Him for the creator and loving God that He is. Let us consider the following scriptures God has given us:

A creation MUST have a creator.

John 1:1-4. The Word (Jesus) created everything.

Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth…”

Genesis 1:3 God created light.

Psalms 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament shows His handiwork.”

Psalms 33:6 “By the word of the LORD the heavens were made.”

Psalms 102:25 “Of old You laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of Your hands.”

Psalms 104 lays out the entire creation of God for all mankind to see.

Job 38-42 These chapters at the end of the book of Job are the most magnificent depiction of God’s glory, majesty and creative powers. He is so much bigger than man and He is so self-evident that it should be implausible for people not to see Him. To the atheist God asks, “Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding.” (Job 38:4).

Take the time to go outside on a clear night and look at what God has created in the sky. Drive to the top of a mountain and look across the valleys and look at what God has created. Dive under the ocean waters and look at what God has created. Take a close peek at the animal kingdom in all its design and beauty and look at what God has created. From the smallest atomic particles of creation to the largest of stars and the expanse of the universe, LOOK at what God has created and believe.

God has made Himself evident for all to see if we would only look and believe. What does God have to say to the unbelievers? “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse…” (Rom. 1:18-20).

Do we need to see God to believe? When Jesus confronted Thomas in the room and showed him His hands and His side, “…Thomas answered, and said to Him, “My Lord and my God.” (John 20:28). Thomas believed. God, has given us all the evidence we need to believe in Him. Believe!
