Wednesday Bible Blurb “Humbility” 3 26 2025
He was the king of the greatest empire on earth. Wealth, land, gold and silver, slave servants beyond anything ever known before by mankind. All he saw, all he wanted was his by his great command and power. Nebuchadnezzar had built himself a great kingdom by his shear narcissistic ability. God had other humbling plans for the great king of Babylon.
“Thus says the LORD: ‘Heaven is My throne, and earth My footstool. Where is the house that you will build Me? And where is the place of My rest? For all those things My hand has made, and all those things exist,’ says the LORD. ‘But on this one will I look: on him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, and who trembles at My word.’”. (Isa. 66:1-2 [NKJV]). King Nebuchadnezzar was about to get his proverbial “come upings.” God made the universe. God made the world. God made the earth and the sky. God causes kingdoms to rise and fall and King Nebuchadnezzar was about to fall like Humpty Dumpty. “All this came upon King Nebuchadnezzar. At the end of the twelve months, he was walking about the royal palace of Babylon. The king spoke, saying, “Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for a royal dwelling by my mighty power and for the honor of my majesty?” While the word was still in the king’s mouth, a voice fell from heaven: “King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken: the kingdom has departed from you!And they shall drive you from men, and your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field. They shall make you eat grass like oxen; and seven times shall pass over you, until you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever He chooses.”That very hour the word was fulfilled concerning Nebuchadnezzar; he was driven from men and ate grass like oxen; his body was wet with the dew of heaven till his hair had grown like eagles’ feathers and his nails like birds’ claws.” (Daniel 4:28-33 NKJV).
The great King of Babylon, Nebuchadnezzar, had great ability and no humility. What the king lacked was “Humbility”. “Humbility”: Verb, is a word I made up meaning, someone with great ability who bows to God in all things.” Nebuchadnezzar had ability and God had to humble him. As we read and study God’s word, we see many examples of remarkable individuals who had “Humbility.” They were people of ability who humbled themselves to God- “Humbility.” Let’s look at some great biblical examples of “humbility” and then transfer this concept of “humbility” to our lives.

- You and me
-Psalm 8:4-5 “What is man that You are mindful of him,
And the son of man that You visit him?
For You have made him a little lower than the angels,
And You have crowned him with glory and honor.”
God is mindful of us, His children. We are crowned with glory and honor. Do we deserve this? Are we full of ability and humility as were Abraham, Moses, Daniel, Barnabas, Paul and Jesus? Are you and me people of great ability and great humility? Have we bowed to God? Do we fully understand His grace and love for us? “Humbility”, someone with great ability who bows to God in all things. Do we use our God given abilities to further His kingdom? Do we bow to Him in all things? God is watching us. He is looking for one “who is poor and of a contrite spirit, and who trembles at His word.” (Isa. 66:2b paraphrased). Are we people of great ability and of great humility? Bow to God! “Humbility.”
