Ambassadors

Ambassador, “A diplomatic agent serving his or her sovereign or government in a foreign country.” (Webster).

Wednesday Bible Blurb “Ambassadors” 3 20 2024 Thursday Edition

Ambassador, “A diplomatic agent serving his or her sovereign or government in a foreign country.” (Webster).

“By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise, for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God.” (God Hebrews 11:8-10 [NKJV]).

“Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.” (II Cor. 5:20).

Dear Christian diplomats for Christ, being ambassadors for Christ (His kingdom) we are obligated to obey the king of our represented country-Jesus and His kingdom. Ambassadors do the will of the leader and live in a foreign country representing the VALUES of their leader. As am ambassador of Jesus we are citizens of His domain. (Phil. 3:20). We have been called by God to do the work of God as His ambassadors as if we live in a foreign country. Our one and only allegiance is to God and His glorious kingdom. “Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone…” (Eph. 2:19-20). We have been called to do the will and work of God in the spreading of His message about His government (Kingdom).

In the world of international relations of today, ambassadors have diplomatic immunity from the laws of a foreign country. This is not so with God’s ambassadors. Hebrews 11 gives us an entire list of God’s ambassadors who suffered terribly because they represented His kingdom. How willing are we to fully represent His kingdom and His kingdom only? Jesus warns us about being of a split duplicitous mind. “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” (Matt. 6:24).  Are we all in or is our ambassadorial allegiance duplicitous?

We are the exclusive representatives of God and His kingdom. What then is a kingdom and what do we represent? A kingdom is made up of 1) territory, 2) people, 3) laws and 4) king. Jesus is coming to claim His kingdom and we are His forerunners announcing His coming. Our job is to be reconciled to His will and represent Him as His ambassadors to proclaim His return to His throne on earth.

A WARNING: Most of the people of this world claim to know Jesus but do not represent Him and His kingdom. If we are of a duplicitous split mind and are not putting His kingdom first as His ambassadors, Jesus has a warning for us. “Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name? And then I will declare to them, I never knew you; depart from Me you who practice lawlessness!” (Mat. 7:21-23).  Have we shed our own selves and become 100% ambassadors for Christ? What country do we truly represent?

We are the diplomatic agents of Jesus and is kingdom living in a foreign country just like Abraham. We must represent Him with all our heart and with all our mind for it would be so sad to hear, when Jesus returns, “I never knew you; depart from Me you who practice lawlessness!”
